Albums
Toto's discography includes 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music as well as collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. 토토 꽁머니 led to formation of Toto in 1976.
Turn Back, Toto's third studio album was criticized by critics for not having hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group The band held auditions to find the new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the band recorded the album Fahrenheit in 1986.
In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several old tapes and demos to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was a hit by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set called Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the band.
